Get ready to relive the magic that started it all. Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter has announced its brand-new summer feature: First Year at Hogwarts, running from 7th May to 7th September 2026. This special seasonal event is set to be one of the most immersive and exciting experiences the Studio Tour has ever offered, and tickets are already available.
Why This Summer Is Extra Special
This year marks an extraordinary milestone — 25 years since Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone first hit the big screen. To celebrate a quarter century of wizarding wonder, the Studio Tour is pulling out all the stops. First Year at Hogwarts transports visitors back to where it all began, surrounding them with authentic props, original costumes, and iconic set transformations drawn directly from the very first film.
What to Expect Inside the Tour
The Great Hall: An End of Term Feast
The iconic Great Hall will be fully dressed to recreate the magical atmosphere of the first-year End of Term Feast. Gryffindor banners will hang proudly above the long tables, while a flurry of floating hats — thrown in celebration — will be suspended from the ceiling overhead. It's the perfect moment to celebrate the night Gryffindor broke Slytherin's six-year run on the House Cup, and a photo opportunity you won't want to miss.
The Sorting Begins Before You Even Step Inside
Even before the tour properly begins, visitors will be transported to one of the film's most iconic moments: the Sorting Ceremony. Watch as Professor McGonagall places the Sorting Hat upon Harry's head and his Hogwarts journey begins.
The Gryffindor Common Room
The beloved Gryffindor Common Room will be specially transformed to recreate a memorable scene from The Philosopher's Stone: the moment Hermione Granger cast Petrificus Totalus on Neville Longbottom — proving just how brilliant (and, in Ron Weasley's words, a little scary) she truly was.
Quidditch: Behind the Flying Magic
Quidditch fans are in for a treat. This feature delves into the filmmaking secrets behind Harry's first flying lessons and the Quidditch matches, including a chance to see the original Quidditch polearm rig — the very mechanism that set the standard for how this beloved wizarding sport was filmed throughout the entire series.
Secrets of Sound Effects: A Brand-New Show
Debuting this summer in the Backlot Stage, Secrets of Sound Effects is a brand-new audiovisual experience that lifts the curtain on the art of Foley and the intricate world of movie sound design. Discover how the sounds of the wizarding world — from the rustle of robes to the crack of spells — were meticulously crafted to bring Harry Potter's universe to life.
Fluffy Returns
One of the most memorable creatures from the first film makes a dramatic return. Hagrid's beloved three-headed dog, Fluffy, is brought back to life courtesy of the original Creature Effects Department, complete with an authentic paw mould. Accompanying Fluffy is the original self-playing harp — the very instrument that lulled the beast to sleep and allowed Harry, Ron, and Hermione to slip past on their way to the Philosopher's Stone.
Wizard Chess: Your Move
Relive Ron's heroic — and self-sacrificing — chess match with a special photo opportunity featuring moving chess pieces, alongside the original Knight that Ron famously offered up in service of his friends.
Diagon Alley Activity Passport
All first-years need their supplies! A newly expanded Activity Passport will be available for visitors to collect and follow in the footsteps of Hogwarts students as they make their way through Diagon Alley — stopping at iconic shops like Ollivanders and the Magical Menagerie to tick off everything on their shopping list.
Opening Night: An Exclusive Special Event
In addition to the main summer feature, a special First Year at Hogwarts – Opening Night event will also be held at the Studio Tour. This exclusive evening will allow guests to experience the feature up close, with unique behind-the-scenes insight from talent who worked on the original film. Tickets for Opening Night go on sale at 10am on 10th March, exclusively via the Studio Tour's official website.
